TOWING AND RECOVERY

Towing and recovery ropes for armoured vehicles including the K.E.R.R. (Kinetic Energy Recovery Rope), Polyester Tow Ropes light weight Dyneema Tow Ropes.  In addition, the Marlow Dyneema Winch-line is designed to replace steel wire on recovery winches on armoured and 4x4 vehicles, speeding up deployment and recovery and improving safety.

K.E.R.R. (Kinetic Energy Recovery Rope)

The K.E.R.R. was designed and developed by Marlow and British forces to provide fast and effective recovery of armoured vehicles. It allows quick and easy deployment for rapid recovery without the need for special vehicles.

The K.E.R.R. works in the following way:

• One end of the K.E.R.R. is connected to the trapped vehicle and the other to the towing vehicle
• The towing vehicle accelerates to a maximum speed of 16mph (26kph), snatching the rope with it’s energy
• The towing vehicle is slowed or halted and it’s kinetic energy is transferred into potential energy within the stretched rope
• The rope transfers the kinetic energy to the trapped vehicle and after a pause the trapped vehicle rises free
• If the vehicle is not freed on the first attempt, the process can be repeated
• Once free, continued towing with the K.E.R.R is possible

The K.E.R.R. should be used by trained personnel only and should never be used on soft shell 4x4 vehicles

Polyester Tow Ropes

Strong, lightweight and flexible with excellent UV resistance, Marlow’s polyester Tow Ropes are ideally suited for small to medium sized armoured vehicles.

Construction: 8 Strand high tenacity polyester
Colours: White, Olive Drab, Desert Sand
Termination: 250mm Protected soft eye splice each end

H.M.P.E. Tow Rope

Light weight and strong, H.M.P.E. Tow Ropes are made with Dyneema® and have been designed specifically for medium   weight, front line armoured vehicles. Safer than wire, these Tow Ropes can be quickly and easily deployed in critical situations by a single person.

D-Tech Tow Ropes

Extremely lightweight and strong with virtually no recoil, D-Tech Tow Ropes are specifically designed to eliminate safety concerns that can arise with both wire and nylon kinetic recovery ropes.

The lightweight, high strength Dyneema® core reduces overall vehicle weight and allows deployment by a single person whilst the Technora® cover has excellent heat, cut and abrasion resistance, improving durability in extreme operating environments.

Extremely lightweight and strong with virtually no recoil, D-Tech Tow Ropes are specifically designed to eliminate safety concerns that can arise with both wire and nylon kinetic recovery ropes.

Dynaline Winch Line

Marlow’s Dynaline winch ropes are made with high strength, light weight Dyneema® fibre and are designed to replace steel wire winch ropes on armoured vehicles and 4x4’s. Dynaline enables significantly quicker and safer deployment and recovery than traditional steel wire ropes, virtually eliminating dangerous recoil if fitting or attachment fail or the unlikely event of rope failure

Dynaline Max Winch Line

Dynaline Max takes the wire rope replacement concept of Dynaline a stage further by adding Marlow's "Max" super pre-stretching process.  Dynaline Max offers higher strength and lower stretch than a standard Dynaline rope.  The higher break load for a given diameter offers a higher factor of safety or the possibility to down size the rope thereby allowing a longer length to be fitted on the winch.
